Maolid: Gridlock cripples Ilorin

Economic activities have been paralysed in Ilorin, Kwara State due to gridlock caused by the influx of a mammoth crowd participating in the ongoing 31st annual Maolid of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass.
The global event is organised by the Majmahu Ahbab Sheikh Ibrahim Niass with members of Tijaniyah group movement across Nigeria and other Africa countries.
At the event, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, called for continuous peaceful co-existence and tolerance among ethnic groups, as well as religious adherents in Nigeria.
Saraki stated that peaceful co-existence was imperative for national growth and development, especially with global economic challenges and insecurity, adding that dialogue was the best means of conflict resolution.
The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Isiaka Gold, urged religious leaders across the country to shun all forms of hate preaching, which he said could trigger crises.
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, said the late Sheikh was an upright, sincere and pious religions cleric.
