Stop Complaining About BigBrotherNaija: Just Do These

Stop Complaining About BigBrotherNaija: Just Do These

By: The Media Editor

A reader of www.themedia.com.ng, who wants to be identified simply as Afonja from Lagos State, Nigeria, has taken different dimensions to the calls for the ban of the reality show #BigBrotherNaija. According to his mail to The Media Editor, "I am an esteem reader of your blog,
www.themedia.com.ng,
and I have been so worried about how Nigerians disturb themselves calling for the ban of the Big Brother Naija Show. Attached is my opinion on what people should do or focus on rather than complaining deep about BBN". The Mail read.

It could be recalled a post for the ban of the show BBNAIJA, was posted on this blog, earlier this month, but this reader has taken a holistic approach saying 'you can just keep your mouth shut about it'.

After the mail, the reader picked up the editor's number and message him on Whatsapp Messenger.

 His whatsapp Message reads...

"Gentlemen and ladies... there's already a solution to your problems about bbnaija. ...change the channel #simple. Is it shown on national TV? Must u subscribe to dstv? With all the problems in the country now, the one you have time to focus on is bbnaija as if it's showing on every channel you change to", he wrote furiously on whatsapp.

According to Afonja, "Channels on TV are like websites on the internet , you get the ones you go after. There are porn sites on the net, does that mean everyone visits or sees their content? NO. Though, some people are bugged by various adverts of stupid obscene images when browsing, do they simply stop using the internet because of that? No. You simply close the advert and continue with your business. So, what is this rave about bbnaija? Among about 200+ channels on dstv , just one is dedicated to this program I think, people can simply change the channel", he explained to The Media.

Are you a fan of BBNAIJA?

I'm not a fan of the BBNAIJA Franchise, it is too boring. On this same dstv or gotv, there are educative channels, news channels , entertaining channels, even  religious channels , if people are so holy as they claim to be, then let them glue their eyes onto Onegospel or Iqraa or any other religious channels they like. The annoying thing is that people are busy shouting they is a program that should be banned from TV as if it's glued to their TV screen, even if it is, then switch off the TV set or is anyone holding them at gunpoint to watch the program.

Don't you think the people should focus on calls for the ban of BBNAIJA?

E! channel shows Dr 90210 and playboy mansions etc. How many people have called for the banning of those Channels? Another annoying thing is that with all the problems we are facing in this country now, is banning of BBNAIJA the issue we should be focusing on now? No. It just shows how selectively myopic people can be . Which of the problems Nigeria is facing now will banning BBNAIJA stop, indecency?

If BBNAIJA should be ban, what do you suggest?

Then we should probably ban all secular musicians and all secular music too. These are songs that even the toddlers know by heart, Watch all the videos of those songs they are exposed, they contain contents that should be at least rated 16+ and BBNAIJA is rated 18+.

Your advice to those complaining about BBNAIJA

My piece of advice to people that are complaining about BBNAIJA, hmmm, the country is  in recession,  so save some money and don't subscribe to dstv or gotv , watch and promote our local channels. That way you won't get to see BBNAIJA and  you'll save money. It's a win-win situation. Or you can just keep your mouth shut about it.
