OFFER THEM A PENNY, by Aliu-Ahmad Olalekan Gold

OFFER THEM A PENNY, by Aliu-Ahmad Olalekan Gold

They are victims of sorrow
Troubled and scorched to the marrow
Garbage at the backyards of the rich
Humiliated to the extreme like a bitch
Because they had no food in their bellies
If you see them; offer them a penny.
.
Relentless wind sways with scary sound
Whilst many of them walked hopelessly around
Searching for food or death on the road
Hardship couldn't resist to lure them to its fold
Everyday brings a new form of torment
For they had no penny to pay their rent.
.
Time has failed to give them soothe
Yet, political leaders never cease to loot
A comforting sun will shine tomorrow
Ceaseless rain of respite will follow
This is not only a promise
But one-day, joy would come in series.
.
I believe bad times don’t last forever
The tough times won't last; never
The heartache and the let down
In times of deep sadness that made them frown
Someday, will go and never return
Then, you'd have every course to catch fun.
