Inspiring Piece: Tears for my country

Tears for my country

By: Emini Memo | Lagos State

Tears for my country
This is a message for all and sundry
Of my pains and tears for my country
The whites call us apes
Our leaders give us economic rape

They make laws and live on the exemption
One of it is the fight against corruption
Their kids go to school abroad
While money for food the masses can't afford

No job, no money, no food, no light
2face want to lead a protest, they said he has no right
They eat up our treasury like bacteria
Buying luxuries not made in Nigeria

And they tell us to use goods made in Nigeria
While they go abroad to treat common ear disease and malaria
They go to India, London and America
For ordinary test, check up and other medicals

They consume our money in trillions
While the masses can't even afford a million
Because our salary through out a lifetime
Is what they get in just six months time

Politicians are tying us like a maid
They're doing us master-slave
Let's call a spade a spade
We are still experiencing a packaged slave trade
We are being foolishly played
When they come to beg us during campaign and crusade

They pretend to be good leaders
After assuming office they betray us like Judas
With all the fake promises being made
Our salaries, pensions and gratuities are not being paid
Every economic sector is getting decayed
And most of us are still afraid
To stage a protest or crusade

Our leaders are greedy
The masses are needy
Our leaders dey bubble
The masses dey struggle

Why won't youths go into crime
When we don't have a dime
The worst of it's kind inflation
In my loving and dear nation

Am just praying for just a gift
A Moses that will lead us out of this Egypt
Who is going to be our temporary Messiah
That will grant most of our heart desires

I know for sure that Jesus the real Messiah is coming
But till He comes, should we keep dulling?

Yours in the struggle,
Memo
