ETHICAL CODE FOR STUDENTS
1.1 Qualities Required of StudentsA student of the University shall:
1.1.1 Be a person of good character morals
1.1.2 Be imbued with the zeal to acquire knowledge and skills in his/her field of study.
1.1.3 Remain open-minded and tolerant of opposing views.
1.1.4 Be modest as to accept his/her shortcomings and constantly strive to address them.
1.1.5 Be conversant with the rules and regulations of the University (especially GEAR, Student Handbook and University Dress Code).
1.2 Relationship with Staff
A student of the University shall:1.2.1 Always show courtesy, respect and humility when dealing with staff of the University and shall not violate the dignity of the staff member in whatever way.
1.2.2 Not be involved in fighting or abusing, harassing or provocation any University staff in the course of discharging his/her lawful duties.
1.2.3 Not give money or offer any form of gratification to any staff or attempt to do any other thing with the aim of inducing a staff into giving undue advantage or benefit regarding a service done or to be done.
1.2.4 Shun any act of insubordination towards constituted authority of the University.
1.3 Relationship with Students
Students of the University shall:1.3.1 Treat one another with courtesy, respect and friendliness.
1.3.2 Always be ready to assist one another positively and within their ability.
1.3.3 Help new students to familiarize with the University system and campus environment.
1.3.4 Be mentors and role models to fellow students.
1.3.5 Not do anything that may threaten, endanger or scare any other student.
1.3.6 Not to partake in any form of physical abuse, fighting and intimidation with any student.
1.3.7 Not initiate any cult activities or other abominable acts.
1.3.8 Not initiate, encourage, force or recruit fellow students into any cult activities or other abominable acts.
1.4 Conduct While on Campus
Student of the University shall:1.4.1 Devote themselves wholly to their academic pursuits.
1.4.2 Attend all academic activities regularly and punctually.
1.4.3 Participate in all other activities that will complement their academic programmes.
1.4.4 Abide by the rules and regulations of the University and not indulge in any conduct that violates them.
1.4.5 Always consider University facilities as their own properties by handling them with utmost care.
1.4.6 Dress decently on campus according to the University Dress Code.
1.4.7 Always help to maintain campus cleanliness.
1.4.8 Refrain from doing anything that will disturb or disrupt academic activities in the University.
1.4.9 Not get involved in unauthorized demonstrations that will disrupt normalcy and peaceful coexistence in the University.
1.4.10 Not be involved in any form of forgery, false representation or impersonation in the name of any other student or in the name of the University.
1.4.11 Not produce or publicize false news that will tarnish the image of the University or cause disorder on campus.
1.4.12 Not indulge in unauthorized promotions and any other form of commercial activities on campus.
1.4.13 Not use computing systems of the University for any activities that violates the mission and core values of the University.
1.4.14 Not distribute, post or view nude and pornographic images, videos and any other offensive materials electronically or otherwise.
1.4.15 Not make an audio or video recording of a lecturer, instructor or facilitator without his consent.
1.4.16 Not indulge in bringing, using or selling any drugs, alcohol or narcotics into the University.
1.4.17 Not bring, keep or move around with pets in the University.
1.4.18 Not refuse to comply with any University directive.
1.4.19 Always seek for the approval of the Dean of Student Affairs whenever they need to perform any function.
1.5 Conduct while Off-Campus
A student of the University, while off campus shall:1.5.1 Always be a good ambassador of the University.
1.5.2 Always seek to positively impact and add value to the community.
1.5.3 Endeavour to seek knowledge outside the University.
1.5.4 Not be involved in fighting, stealing, rape, assault, illegal destruction of public property and other criminal activities.
1.5.5 Not be involved in any form of forgery, false representation or impersonation.
1.5.6 Not use any University property such as records, documents, logos or any similar material for any purpose that is contrary to their intended use and which can impact negatively on the University.
1.5.7 Not get involved with illegal associations and cults.
1.5.8 Not indulge in use and sale of illicit drugs, alcohol and narcotics.
